Clinical Training

For Clinicians Only:
The Psychotherapy Practice Development Salon

The Psychotherapy Practice Development Salon, called informally The Practice Salon is a unique learning experience for both pre-licensed and post-licensed therapists who are planning or have recently entered into private practice and want to learn the steps to making it successful. PhD, PsyD, LCSW and MFT practitioners are welcomed.

Through a nine-session program designed to address the core business and clinical issues of building a practice, Salon members, along with a group of colleagues, will learn step-by-step the strategies and perspectives necessary for success. Because the Salon groups are small - no more than twelve participants are admitted for any class - each Salon member receives individual attention and focused feedback on developing a unique practice model. Members also become alumni of an exceptional training experience and will enjoy close collegial as well as mutual referral relationships with other class members long after the Salon is no longer meeting.

The Salon meets monthly on Saturday afternoons for nine (9) months, with each meeting lasting for four (4) hours. Start dates may vary depending on enrollment levels.

The Salon is led by two psychotherapists, Dr. John Nickens and Dr. Joy L. Johnson, who are experienced in both the business and the practice of psychotherapy. You can find more information about Dr. Johnson elsewhere on this website,
